Lyon Star Mikautadze Attracting Premier League, Bundesliga Interest

Mikautadze

Lyon’s administrative relegation to Ligue 2 could trigger a mass exodus of talent, and one of the most sought-after players is undoubtedly Georges Mikautadze. The 24-year-old Georgian international was a rare bright spot in a challenging season, bagging 11 goals in 34 appearances. Now, he finds himself on the list of potential departures as OL looks to balance the books.

Mikautadze, alongside Lucas Perri and Malick Fofana, is considered one of Lyon’s most valuable assets. Given his versatility as a forward, it’s no surprise that suitors are lining up.

According to Foot Mercato, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are keen on Mikautadze, eyeing him as a potential replacement should Hugo Ekitike depart. However, they face stiff competition from England, with newly-promoted Sunderland also in the mix. Further interest is reportedly coming from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Despite the strong interest, Mikautadze himself is said to prefer staying at his boyhood club, which he rejoined just last summer. The challenge for Lyon will be to retain their key talents during this delicate period as they navigate the complexities of potential relegation.
